Happy Little Accidents
Who doesn’t love Bob Ross?
Smiling at you over your morning coffee or tea?
Bob believed that creating art could help people relax and reduce stress. While I don’t paint happy little trees for a living, I am grateful that I do get to flex my creative muscles regularly with my work.
I know that ‘Bob-isms’ like this one, about turning mistakes into happy little accidents, can seem quotidian. Perhaps rather misplaced in a business setting. Using incorrect data in a company's annual report, for instance, is not something to just laugh off. It carries a lot more weight than a misplaced brushstroke.
I have found that a ‘mistake’ can become a ‘happy little accident’ only when you: own it, learn from it, and offer a creative solution or two. Don’t let a mistake ruin the project or relationship. And try to practice a little grace with yourself and others.
Happy #MugMonday to you and all the happy little trees out there. 🎨 🌲 🌲
